1) But Best Mate didn't move. There was a low growl in the back of his throat, which was very unlike him. His ears were laid back on his head, and his whole body was trembling.

2) Best Mate looked at him once more for reassurance. At that moment a swallow swooped down over their heads, and skimmed away over the grass- it was as if he was teasing Best Mate, taunting him. Best Mate didn't hesitate. He was gone, gathering speed with every bounding stride, his neck straining, following the swallow's every twist and turn.

3) After a few minutes Alfie seemed satisfied, because he came and stood alongside him then, very close, their shoulders touching. Becky could see that two of them were friends already. Alfie stood almost a head high. He was resting his chin on Brighteyes's neck, and this must have been a great comfort to Brighteyes because very soon the trembling stopped altogether.

4) I lay down on my bed, trembling from head to toe. In just a few seconds, my father would come barging in with my sister alongside. Tears trickled down my cheeks. My heart missed a beat as I heard the footsteps. I stopped my sniffling and pretended to fall asleep, pretending nothing had ever happened. ( This one is from me.)

The door creaked loudly as Akeelah opened the door. Beads of sweat tricked down her cheeks. Her heart missed a beat when she heard her mother say, " Where the hell have you been?"
Akeelah turned around hastily and stuttered on every word. She knew she was in hot soup and could not get away this time. Soon a talk escalated into a arguement. Akeelah's eyes turned puffy and red. Her mother looked daggers at her, though she looked tired and disappointed. Akeelah turned around, and stormed towards the door of her bedroom. Cheeks flushing and ears burning, she slammed the door. Bang!
